Area producer David Fourqurean gave another update on his pastures this year.

Fourqurean has planted sorghum-sudangrass in his pastures to extend his grazing season later into the fall. Fourqurean says they are experiencing good results however the sudangrass is slowly thinning.

To contrast the thinning he may plant Marshall ryegrass along with fescue and orchardgrass to thicken the pasture and thin the Crabgrass. However, Fourqurean says they are experiencing a good amount of gains from the pastures.

Fourqurean encourages other producers to use sorghum-sudangrass if their pastures are thin or they would like to extend their grazing season. For more information on adding sudangrass to your pasture, contact your area extension office.
