Due to the recent rainfall, it has been difficult for producers to find consecutive days of dry weather to cutting hay. This weekend forecast shows no rain and temperatures in the mid-70’s making it the first consecutive dry streak the area has seen in quite some time.
Trigg county agriculture extension agent David Fourqurean said the rain events of the next couple of days could affect the opportunities of this weekend.

If hay can be cut, Fourqurean adds it is always best to have your hay tested to ensure it meets the nutritional needs of your livestock.

While a portion of the nutritional components in the hay will gradually fall off, Fourqurean says getting dry hay is equally as important.

Trigg county has experienced a measurable rain event 12 out of the 27 days this month, receiving 4.5 inches in total. The forecast is showing clear skies through Monday.
