Christian County and Hopkinsville High School students took industry certification training to another level.

Instead of just watching videos and taking a test, Christian County High School Agriculture teacher Jake Jaworski wanted students to get real hands-on learning. Christian County and Hopkinsville High schools partnered with Christian County Extension office to put on a beef quality assurance training. Jaworski talks about the certification.

Hopkinsville High School agriculture teacher Leah Thomas helped with planning and execution of the event. Thomas is a certified trainer. Close to 30 Hopkinsville High School students also participated in the event.

The training included a variety of stations going through working at the chute, ear tagging, vaccines, parasitology, and Matt Futrell talked about animal behavior when working with cattle. Futrell talked to the students about the importance of safety for the animal and the human.

Futrell also talks about emotional attachment and how that can engage others more.

Working as a partnership, whether that is with cattle or in another job is important for success. Futrell talks more on the importance.

The students who attended the event will go on to take the certification test and hope to gain their needed industry certification for graduation.
