The Western Kentucky State Fair kicked off Friday, June 20 and brought a new event to the grandstands. 

The draft horse and pony pulls showcased the strength and teamwork of draft horses and mules in a heavy weight and a light weight class. In each class, teams were challenged to pull a weighted sled a set distance. Those that succeeded advanced to the next round, where 40 lbs blocks were added to the sled. The competition continued until one team remained.

Heavy-weight:

1st – Chris Hatfield 

2nd – Brandy Moore 

3rd – Eddie Copley 

4th – Jeff Ralph 

Light-weight: 

1st- Aaron Burton 

2nd – Heath Daughtery

3rd – Heath Daughtery Jr.
