The Pink Ribbon Network received the $2,500 grand prize Saturday morning thanks to the efforts of Mikey Hammond in the Trigg County Country Ham Festival Ham Biscuit Eating contest.

Hammond successfully ate eight and one half country ham biscuits in 10 minutes to earn the trophy and win the cash for The Pink Ribbon Network. Hammond held a slow and steady pace through contest to do something he has always been good at.

Hammond says about halfway through the contest he wasn’t sure.

He said it was a pleasure to win the contest in honor of his mother who is a breast cancer survivor.

Hammond was presented a ceremonial $2,500 check for Pink Ribbon Network and a large trophy for his efforts.

During the contest buckets were passed around to raise money for each of the organizations represented by each of the eleven contestants. Master of Ceremonies Eddie Owen says the spectators for the contest at Renaissance Square were very generous.

Owen says the crowd favorite was Donovan Washer who was eating for the Trigg County Imagination Library.

With a successful third annual Ham Biscuit Eating Contest in the books, plans are getting underway for next year. There was some interest among the crowd of adding a women’s division in 2026.
