Kentucky farmers donated a record $995,440.74 to the 2025 Ag Tag Program, the largest single-year total in the program’s history. Agriculture Commissioner Jonathan Shell announced the amount tops last year’s mark by more than $60,000.

The program allows farm vehicle owners to donate up to $10 when renewing their “Ag Tag” license plates. Funds are split evenly among Kentucky 4-H, Kentucky FFA, and the Kentucky Department of Agriculture, with each receiving $331,813.58 this year.

Since 2016, 4-H and FFA together have collected more than $4 million through Ag Tag donations. Half of the money is returned directly to local councils and chapters, where it helps pay for camp scholarships, travel to leadership events, FFA jackets for students, and other community needs.

The Department of Agriculture uses its share to support programs including Ag Athlete of the Year, the Kentucky Leopold Conservation Award, and the University of Kentucky Grain and Forage Center of Excellence.

Shell said the program’s success reflects farmers’ commitment to supporting the next generation.
