The grand champion Kentucky Country Ham sold for a record $5 million during Thursday morning’s 58th Annual Farm Bureau Country Ham Breakfast at the Kentucky State Fair in Louisville.

After a round of fast bidding, the top bidders decided for a second to combine efforts and purchase the top ham for $2.5 million dollars each. The winning bidders were Central Bank, and Kelly and Joe Craft.

Central Bank President Luther Deaton said the bank is proud to partner to support some important charities.

Deaton added that he and Central Bank’s owner, Joan Kincaid, are “big fans” of country ham, and that they’re “blessed” to be able to give back to communities.

Kelly Craft, a budding possibility on the gubernatorial front, said they are glad to help assist fellow Kentuckians impacted by tornadoes and flooding during the past year.

A partnership for this ham, she said, is exactly what Kentuckians need right now.

The winning ham was exhibited by Broadbent B & B Foods of Kuttawa.
