Tuesday night at the Western Kentucky State Fair brought on the 4-H/FFA Rabbit and Poultry Show. Contestants shined brightly with their birds and rabbits as they competed in their respective category for showmanship. Judges were looking for healthy animals and owners will full knowledge of their breed.

For the Poultry showmanship age 5-8 years old, Maverick Wallace showcased his expertise that scored him 1st place. Shepherd Wallace followed close behind in 2nd.

The 9 to 11 year old category was led by Gracelyn Clark who not only placed 1st in her category but won overall Top Showman. This is the first year that the award was given in memory of John Bill Calhoun. The family plans to continue honoring his love of poultry through giving this award in his honor for years to come. Garret Clark placed 2nd followed by Carson Clark in 3rd.

In the 14-16 year olds Malayla Shelton earned 1st place with her knowledge of the bird.

For the Rabbit showmanship show class 1, Elijah Wallace came out on top with Lucas Hisch in 2nd.

Show class 3 followed with Paige Bennett doing a full sweep to come in 1st.

The largest group, show class 4, was headed by Cheyenne Peterson after presenting not only a healthy rabbit but a healthy knowledge to go along. Cadence Moore placed 2nd, Abbie Howe in 3rd, and Libby Townsend rounding out the pack in 4th.

Finally, show class 5 presented the 1st place and the Top Showman award to Madelyn Bennett. Emily Baggett came in a close 2nd.
