Trigg County FFA students have spent the last few months preparing for the Purchase Region FFA Day at Murray State University. 

The day consisted of a variety of contests from talent to quiz bowl and speeches to parliamentary procedure. First and second place winners will advance to state in the summer. Trigg County came back with many successes. The conduct of chapter meetings team was the first from Trigg County to win the contest. The team was composed of freshman Holly Britton, Ella Chalfin, Lexie Valentine, Memphis Seaver, Colby Ross, Elliot Sutton, and Braxton Creekmur. They were judged on the ability to hold a proper chapter meeting using each motion they were given beforehand. 

The agriculture public speaking contest is split into categories. Students have the choice between two topics where they must prepare and memorize a speech. Here are the results:

Superior 1st-

Adriana Westmoreland – Aquaculture 

 

Superior 2nd- 

Thomas Lingenfelter – Ag Mechanics 

Kiley Slone – Nursery and Landscape 

 

Superior 3rd- 

Jennie Watts – Beef

Akia Kearney – Dairy

Nick Stanford – Forestry 

Kacey Kearney – Wildlife

 

Extemporaneous Speaking:

Chloe Adams – Superior 2nd 

 

Talent:

Allyson Hargis – Superior 2nd

 

FFA Quiz:

Caroline Kosak – Superior 2nd 

 

FFA Quiz Bowl Team:

Stevie Johnson, Hattie Shemwell, Maddi Fears, Thoman Lingenfelter – Final Four
